McDonald’s Malaysia Spreads Festive Cheer With Nationwide Syawal Outreach

BANGI, April 3 (Bernama) -- McDonald’s Malaysia continues to embrace the spirit of giving and togetherness this Syawal by organising a series of community celebrations at selected locations nationwide.

Its Corporate Communications Director, Shamsidar Yahya, said the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities while creating meaningful moments with Malaysians celebrating Aidilfitri.

“At McDonald’s Malaysia, community outreach is at the heart of what we do. Giving back to the communities we serve is something we deeply value.

“Every year, we carry out about 10,000 community activities nationwide across more than 370 restaurants,” she said at the Hari Raya Bersama Mekdi 2026 Open House held at the McDonald’s Bandar Baru Bangi outlet today.

Also present were McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar and vice-president and chief marketing officer Melati Abdul Hai.

Shamsidar added that throughout the recent Ramadan month, McDonald’s Malaysia rolled out various initiatives, including providing moreh to 300 mosques and suraus nationwide, hosting iftar sessions with children from orphanages, and providing Ramadan kits to children at Ronald McDonald Houses.

The company also introduced exclusive Raya-themed “Sampul Raya” packets featuring artwork by children from Ronald McDonald Houses, showcasing their creativity.

“Through the Santun Pelajar programme, we distributed meal vouchers worth RM50,000 to students at 20 selected higher learning institutions during Ramadan, and this initiative will continue beyond the festive month,” she said.

The Hari Raya Bersama Mekdi 2026 Open House, which kicked off today, will be held at multiple locations nationwide, featuring activities such as kompang performances, live entertainment, interactive games and community engagement programmes.

As a gesture of appreciation, 1,000 complimentary Chicken Foldover meal sets, along with apple pie and Fuze Teh drinks, were distributed at each location to customers and members of the community.
