MOSCOW, April 15 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) told RIA Novosti on Wednesday that it is ready to send a technical mission to Iran to assess the damage caused by US and Israeli strikes under safe conditions.
Earlier this week, Secretary-General of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO Hassan Fartousi told RIA Novosti that Iran expects the UN organisation's experts to come to assess the damage caused by US and Israeli strikes.
"UNESCO is closely monitoring the situation and maintains a close dialogue with the relevant national authorities. The organisation expressed its readiness to carry out a technical mission as soon as security conditions permit," the organisation said.
This may include technical assistance in damage assessment, conservation and restoration, attracting funds from the World Heritage Foundation and international emergency assistance mechanisms, as well as the involvement of international expertise, the organisation added.
