KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) –The annual ‘Raya song war’ is heating up again as new festive tracks flood the industry, even before Ramadan reaches its second week. Following last year's viral hits—Alamak Raya Lagi by De Fam and Ketipak Ketipung Raya by Aisha Retno—this year’s lineup is just as exciting.

It's as if a 'Raya song war' has already begun, even though Muslims have been fasting for less than two weeks. The excitement of Syawal is growing as the entertainment industry buzzes with the release of modern Raya songs, catering to contemporary listeners' tastes.

Unlike previous years, this wave of festive songs isn't dominated solely by younger artistes and new groups. Esteemed singers like Malaysia’s National Songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Dayang Nurfaizah have also embraced the trend.

This time, Dayang has released Jodoh Hari Raya, a classic R&B track, while other artistes have opted for more upbeat vibes, such as Hael Husaini and Nadeera (Meriah Lain Macam), Fazura and Syasya Rizal (Raya Pum Pang). These releases have left netizens wondering which song will dominate the festive season this time.

Eager to join the trend, rising singer and actress Daiyan Trisha debuts her first-ever Raya song, Jom Raya, featuring Alfie Zumi. The track stands out with its playful use of ‘pick-up lines’—flirtatious and witty phrases meant to charm listeners.

Daiyan, who also composed the song, shared that the idea stemmed from her observation of social media users who enjoy using ‘pick-up lines’ in their daily interactions, especially during the festive season.

"I’ve noticed that many people love using pick-up lines related to finding a soulmate on social media every Raya. These phrases always catch my attention.

“That’s why I wanted to bring Jom Raya to life by incorporating interesting phrases. My goal was to create a festive song filled with pick-up lines that everyone would enjoy," she told Bernama.

A ‘pick-up line’ refers to charming or humorous phrases used to flirt with or attract someone’s attention, often known as sweet talk or flirtatious phrases.

Released on Feb 28, the 31-year-old singer said her debut Raya song—co-written with Glowrush and Efry Arwis—comes in two versions: a duet and a solo. The solo version is set to be released on March 21 across all digital platforms.

"Jom Raya is a blend of modern and traditional vibes. We aimed to cater to all listeners' tastes, and I hope they enjoy it," said Daiyan, who started working on the song last year.
