RIYADH (Saudi Arabia), Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian delegation’s participation in the International Conference on Conjoined Twins 2024 here will boost bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia through cooperation in various medical fields.
Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah said both countries had expertise in different medical disciplines and sharing between experts would boost ties between both countries.
"We are known for expertise on cancer, while Saudi Arabia is famous not only for Siamese twins’ surgeries, but have capabilities through high technology and we can work with them in that matter, along with other various disciplines in the medical field,” he said after attending the launch of the conference here today.
Wan Zaidi also said that Malaysia had contributed expertise to the health sector in Saudi Arabia through the workforce in private medical centres in the kingdom.
Many programmes, including ministerial level sessions with leaders from multinational health organisations and ministers from various countries, will be held throughout the two-day conference.
Malaysia is represented by consultant paediatric surgeons and maternal fetal medicine experts from the Health Ministry, in addition to Ahmad dan Muhammad Rosli, a pair of Siamese twins who underwent a separation surgery in Saudi Arabia in 2002.
